Everyone knows the world of Disney and there is just something about a Disney character that brings a smile to the lips. Seeing our favorite family pet our beloved dogs sporting a Disney dog collar just adds to the pleasure of our pooch. Dog collars are important and of course their functionality has to be the priority. There is nothing wrong with having our pooches well dressed though and it just seems like we are doing something a little extra special for them. When you come to think

Cool Collars May Help Save Your Dog's Life
Did you know that heat exhaustion could kill your pet and you didn't even realize they were in danger. Well we all like cool collars for our canine friends but there is one Kool collar that just might help to save your doggie's life.
We all like to think about keeping our pets safe in all situations. What we often forget about though is how the heat can affect them. Of course we know enough not to leave them out in the scorching sun, but we may not think about when we are taking

Kool Collars Taking The Heat Out of Your Dog
Save your dog from the pain and
danger of canine heat exhaustion by learning how and when to use the Kool
Collar
If your dog is active then the collar will help protect him by keeping his temperature down. It is the melting ice inside the unique collar that acts as artificial perspiration, this in turn keeps your pet cool.
Older dogs and puppies struggle to maintain the correct temperature so they are more prone to over heating. If you have ever seen a dog with heat stroke then you know how distressing it can be. The cool dog collar is worn like any regular dog collar. As the ice melts in the ice strip that is provided it is naturally cooling your pet. Have you ever put ice cubes on your wrist in hot weather? If you have you will know how effective it was at cooling you down. The collar works on the same principle and helps cool down the blood when it passes under the collar, thereby cooling the dog!
A word of warning! These collars are excellent at helping to cool your dog but common sense must still be used. It is no good exercising your dog in the heat of the day and expect the collar to keep your dog safe. The same applies for leaving your dog in a hot car for any length of time, they simply are not strong enough for that. Keep your dog shaded and with a supply of fresh cool water at all times. Cats are the same, they do tend to have more sense than dogs and they seem to know how to keep cooler! Remember there is a kool collar for cats too!
The collar comes with a reusable freezer tube that is placed inside the collar. The collar is very wide so a big surface area is covered. They can be used all year round. Remember your aging dog suffers the most so help him regulate his temperature by fitting a kool collar. As said previously, heat stroke in dogs is distressing and can kill them very rapidly if precautions are not taken.

Do I Insure My Dog Or Cat or Put The Money To One Side?
So you have just purchased your first new pet and you are now asking the question do I insure my pet or put the money to one side and self insure? My absolute best advice will be to be honest and ask yourself if you are the sort of person who is disciplined enough to save the money.
I am not that person and to be honest I am so pleased that I insured my dogs as I don't think I would Have coped with the problems that they developed later on in life. One of my dogs a weimaraner

New Dangerous Dog Act Will Send People To Jail For Longer Periods.
The UK Government is applying even stricter laws to people who own a dangerous dog if that dog has caused injury or worse. The new dangerous dog act will send people to jail for longer periods and can even carry a charge of manslaughter or assualt.
Great we are all thinking, if this really does deter then I am all for it. However, I cant help think that it is a law that will not prevent attacks because the root cause is not being prevented enough.

A Dog Does Indeed Show Empathy And Will Yawn When You Do!
I have often wondered if my dogs pick up on my moods, they have often been more attentive when I have been feeling a little down. A study in Portugal has just confirmed that a dog will yawn if you do, something that I have noticed from a couple of mine and something I thought was a coincidence. In humans when this happens it is said to be because the other person is in empathy with you. I am now convinced after reading this report that a dog does indeed show empathy and will yawn

A Bored Puppy is A Destructive Puppy!
The single most important thing to do when introducing the new puppy into the home is to be very disciplined in your intentions to train your dog. A bored puppy is a destructive puppy, they need mind games as much as we do.
You must start as you mean to go on. Ten minute sessions are ideal to start with. You must always break away from the training sessions when the puppy is still alert and attentive. This will encourage long term discipline and your puppy will

Cystitis in Bitches is More Common than Dogs
Cystitis in bitches is more common than dogs due to the shorter distance the bacteria needs to travel before it reaches the bladder. It is also thought that the female will be more prone as she squats and bacteria may be picked up from the ground more readily. If left un treated this easy to control infection can be serious and travel to the kidneys.
Once this bacteria reaches the bladder the acid in the urine will try to fight it but often times it is not successful and the symptoms
